The National Human Trafficking Awareness Day is recognized each year on January 11.
Human Trafficking is a global issue, and it is all around us. We were interviewed by ABC13 to explain the differences between human smuggling and human trafficking. You may view the video by clicking here.

Human Trafficking is the act of recruiting, harboring, transporting, providing, or obtaining a person for compelled labor or commercial sex acts through the use of force, fraud, or coercion.
American Children are the number one victims in America.
The National Human Trafficking Hotline received more calls from California than any other state in the United States, followed by Texas, and Florida.
Traffickers and Abusers are Common, everyday people. 36% of trafficked children are trafficked by a family member.
A 2015 survivor survey by Thorn indicates that 81% of respondents met their traffickers in person and %14 met them online.
Estimates suggest that, internationally, only .04% of survivors of human trafficking cases are identified, meaning that most cases of human trafficking go undetected.
38% of Convicted traffickers are Women. Estimates suggest that about 50,000 people are trafficked into the US each year, most often from the Philippines and Mexico.
